Day 74 – Hexagons Are the Bestagons

·

·

While experimenting with the vintage SMC Takumar 55mm f/1.8, I noticed the grass was covered in tiny dew drops. In the middle of it all stood a small daisy, surrounded by sparkling reflections in the morning light.

To bring a bit more of the scene into focus, I stopped the lens down to around f/5.6. That simple change had an interesting effect: the reflections in the dew transformed from soft circles into small hexagons.

The narrower aperture also created a few subtle sunstars in the brighter highlights. A small reminder that sometimes a tiny adjustment can completely change how light appears in an image.
