Day 32 – Icy Walk

The first post of February.
This image was taken during an evening walk while visiting a friend, as we took the dogs out together. The path was almost completely dark, except for a single streetlight breaking through the night.

I was drawn to the contrast between the deep shadows and that one pool of light, which guided the scene forward. The moment felt calm and unhurried, so I stayed back and waited for my friend to pass through the light.

I misjudged my distance while shooting with the 50mm and had to crop the image afterward. Looking back, taking a few steps closer would have strengthened the frame, but the atmosphere of the moment still held. Sometimes the image is not exactly what you planned, but close enough to what you felt.
